Karl Lagerfeld’s cat gets own capsule collection

Choupette, the famous Chanel designer’s kitty, has long been known for her online presence. She’s featured on Twitter and has quite a knack for scrolling an iPad. Soon to be sold at Karl Lagerfeld stores around the world are the Choupette-inspired knit hats, tech cases, bags, Karl’s signature fingerless gloves and scarves; all in cat-motif. What do you think?

Trend Alert: Lob

There's a new trend in town, and it has been dubbed the 'lob'. Lob is a portmanteau for 'Long Bob' and all the hottest celebs have been chopping off their locks for the new look. I personally really like the look, but I have been growing my hair for about 5 years so I'll stick with my long tresses. These celebs can just throw on some extensions so cutting off their manes isn't really a concern. Put a lot of thought into it if you're thinking of investing in this trend, hair takes for a very long time to grow back for the general public!

OhONEONE: Online Store NOW LIVE!

I haven't been excited for something like this for a LONG time! OhONEONE, which I heard about for the first time last year, is finally LIVE on your Internets. Roxy Burger, a fab friend of mine, is one of the faces behind the store - the other being Sarah Ann Mitchell, stylist superstar - and she's been giving us a sneak peak at the merchandise for months now at celeb events and on her hit show MTV Choice. She has also been giving me insider updates on how the lead-up to the launch has been going.

I've picked a few of my fave pieces below, make sure you go check out all their ranges on their brand new site - http://www.ohoneone.co.za/

The ugly truth about makeup

So... I must confess that I have a growing obsession with makeup and cosmetics. I thought I had overcome this obsession a few years ago after an intervention with my then-flatmate over the amount of products in my bathroom. It's back! And it's even worse - I now can't stop buying great-quality, expensive makeup and products - eeeeek!

Anyways, I read an article a few years on the blog post topic and have since been an educator and advocate of said article. I found a similar one this morning, with all the facts, and thought I'd share it with the rest of you...

These are the expiry dates of your makeup products! I plead with you to keep track of them and chuck your goods when the expiry dates hit. Imagine all the yucky bacteria you are putting on your eyelashes with that expired mascara *vom:

Mascara – three to six months
Cream blush – six months to a year
Concealer, eye cream, eye shadow, pencils – one year
Foundation, lipstick, moisturiser – one to one and a half years
Face powder and powder blusher – two years

Please also clean out and up (inside and out) your makeup bag every once in a while? You perhaps carry it from pillar to post, sitting it on public bathroom counters whilst doing a quick-fix in the mirror, leave it in your boot when you swap to your clutch bag, move it from overnight to handbag, etc. Think about it, ladies...

Anisa Mpungwe for Project at Mr Price

I just love collaborations and Mr Price is doing a lot of them lately. The latest is with Anisa Mpungwe who is behind the Loin Cloth and Ashes store and range.

I have always been very interested how designers create a range. This stems primarily from many hours of watching Project Runway where the challenge is for a 4-piece range and I can't feel the cohesion at all. In Anisa's range I could feel it straight away; I love the monochrome + pop of yellow and I also enjoy the use of pleather and print.

Here's a little blurb from Mr Price's website, see more here:
Anisa's journey with Mr Price began in 2008 when she won the Elle New Talent Design Award in association with Mr Price. Since winning this prestigious award, Anisa’s career has gone from strength to strength.
We are proud to present her exciting new range, exclusive to Mr Price. Featuring a powerful colour combination of black, white and yellow, Anisa’s range comprises structured separates with graphic prints. Sleek and soft fabrications make for a tactile range with a sporting edge. The cuts are similar to Loin Cloth and Ashes designs but they’ve been simplified. Anisa wanted the pieces to be easy to wear and effortless to match. Drawing inspiration from late eighties street-style, the range includes a bold letter-print top and a loose-fitting zipper jacket. You’ll also spot a nod to the twenties with drop-waisted skirts.

Here are a few pieces that I would LOVE in my closet ;) If you'd like to see the full range, shop now right over here

Sorry I have been quiet on the blog, I was booked off the whole week with a virus and was pretty much in bed the entire time. I have a few ideas for the blog so keep an eye out for some fresh, new content!

Trend Alert: Full Skirt

This item in specific has been on my 'to-blog' list for ages, but there has only been one blogger to wear the trend. I was so happy to see a Fab Sugar article on it the other day so I'd thought I'd share with you... I love the 'full skirt' trend!

You can read the full article here, but in the mean time here are some images:

Left to right: Joanna Hillman, Shiona Turini, Kerry Pieri.

From left: Miroslava Duma, Eva Chen, showgoer at NYFW.

The blogger I was talking about is Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific, she's one of my FAVE fashion bloggers BTW. Here are a couple images of her many A-line full skirts:

Also, I found a local blogger embracing the trend! Whilst I haven't seen any full skirts locally, Brett from Fashion by Brett Robson found one at H&M in Hong Kong:

Are you excited for this trend to hit our shores?

Vuyo Varoyi’s Name On Everyone’s Lips At SA Fashion Week

I received this press release this morning and it's getting me really excited! First of all I am going to a few shows at SAFW so having some pre-show info is an excitement-inducer of note and secondly I am strating a makeup course soon to help with my styling business! Can't wait to see these stunning lips strutting down the runway at GJC!!!

The lips could steal the show from the clothes at this year’s SA Fashion Week with Revlon coming on board as the Makeup Partner for the Autumn/Winter 2014 showcase. Revlon’s National Make-Up Artist, Vuyo Varoyi, has been hard at work curating the boldest lip looks that will grace the ramps at this year’s SA Fashion Week, which is set to kickoff on Thursday, 03 October 2013.

Vuyo Varoyi, who has been in the industry for 7 years, working with high profile celebrities such as Kelly Rowland, Bonang Matheba, Richard Branson, Lira, and Shashi Naidoo to mention a few, said he could not contain his excitement about this project. “SA Fashion Week is a great platform for showcasing local talent, and I am grateful to be a part of this. The opportunity has allowed me to tap into my creativity, while having fun with Revlon’s New Super Lustrous range”.

Vuyo’s lip designs will be leading at Gert Johan Coetzee’s highly anticipated showcase this coming Thursday. “I have been working very closely with all the designers from Fashion Week and I will be collaborating with New York based Make-Up Artist Mara Capps to pull through all the looks. Varoyi says the bold lip looks – which include different colours on each lip or a blended fade between two different colours – can work for every skin tone and colour because the new lipsticks and glosses come in a wide range.

Experimental and fun lip looks represent a major trend in fashion and Revlon wants South African women to join in. This month, Revlon is set to launch a fabulous Super LustrousTM Lip Campaign, featuring Revlon Global Brand Ambassador Emma Stone and Revlon South Africa Brand Ambassador Bonang Matheba. For Revlon, Fashion Week is the perfect opportunity to showcase this range, highlighting Vuyo’s work as the National Make-Up Artist for the Brand. Check out a guide of how-to do some of these gorgeous lips here
