I held out until Christmas Day to wear it :) my family and I went to a typical English pub and enjoyed turkey with cranberry sauce! I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas as well

{OOTD} Why did I go outside?

This day, which happened to be my birthday, was by FAR the worst day to be outdoors. Most attractions around London closed and many of the travel routes were cancelled. It rained, and rained, and rained - and the wind was a whole other story! My sister and I travelled all the way to Leavesden to go to the Warner Brother Studios for a tour. This is what I wore...

Shorts: Jo Borkett
Jumper: Mr Price
Coat: Identity
Beanie: Woolworths
Bag: Mr Price
Boots: Rage

Whilst I'm glad I wore the thigh-high boots I could have reconsidered the shirts ;)

{OOTD} Just touched down in London Town

Hello from a very chilly London! It's been a bit of a mind shift leaving SA with a tan and then popping over to the northern hemisphere kitted out with boots and coats. Here's my first outfit post. It was taken outside my family's new UK home that I saw for the first time:

Jacket: Mr Price
Jeans: True Religion
Socks: Woolworths
Shoes: My friend Sally, I think they're from Aldo
Earmuffs: Primark
Rings: H&M and Sass Diva

Bag: Mr Price

I also really like my sister's outfit which I helped style so I convinced her to post that too:

River Island is coming to South Africa!

I just read the very exciting news that Edcon has signed a deal with River Island to come to SA in June 2014. I really love their stuff, especially their handbags, and I am so looking forward for their doors in Rosebank to open! I'm just hoping the prices aren't too crazy...

Read what I read below...

River Island recently signed an exclusive franchise deal with Edcon, providing the leading retailer with sole distribution rights to the popular brand

The first flagship store is set to launch in Rosebank, Johannesburg in June 2014 with additional flagship stores expected to open in Cape Town in October next year.

River Island is a brand with Great British heritage. Founded and based in London, the business was created and is managed by the Lewis family. With design at the heart of the business, it prides itself on the ability to remain ahead of the trends and indeed to create them.

With over 65 years of fashion retail experience, the brand continues to grow globally and has over 300 stores in the UK, Ireland, Russia, Poland, Holland, Belgium and the Middle East and offers worldwide shipping through its website.

Edcon CEO J├╝rgen Schreiber comments, “River Island is a complete shopping experience all in itself. Not only is it extremely fashion forward but it is also very versatile and possesses its own unique flair. We expect it to be a hugely popular addition to our current range.”

While clients of River Island are all connected by their love for fashion, the brand's diverse collections all draw on different inspirations, enabling wearers to cultivate their own unique styles

River Island is constantly evolving in order to stay young, fun and vibrant. Not surprisingly its stores undergo the same evolutionary process in order to maintain their unique image. Customers can constantly expect to see new elements of surprise in shop fits and visual merchandising.

“This is truly a significant milestone in local fashion,” enthuses Schreiber. “River Island is known for its incredible collection which literally has everything from statements to staples. No matter what a client's individual style, River Island will have fun refreshing pieces to suit their needs,” he concludes.

“We are very excited to be entering into the South African market in partnership with Edcon. We are confident that together, with our combined knowledge and experience, we can deliver fantastic fashion and a great store experience to our South African customers.” – Ben Lewis, CEO River Island

Pantone reveals the colour of 2014: Radient Orchid

Another year, another colour to live by. Or so says global colour authority Pantone, who officially deemed Radiant Orchid as 2014′s Colour of the Year, citing the light purple’s shade’s transformative nature (it also happens to be one of my brand's colours).

“The purple family has continued to grow in popularity and acceptance among interior designers and consumers alike,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute. The hue will replace last year’s shade, Emerald Green.
What this means for you: Probably, that you’ll see a slight uptick in pastel lavender clothing in stores—we’ve already seen an influx of pastels toward the end of 2013 from several designers—and possibly on the walls in your friends’ homes, if only because Pantone teamed up with Valspar to produce a Radiant Orchid paint collection.
“As we move into 2014, we are beginning to embrace bold paint colours in the home for accent walls or to revamp key furniture pieces. Radiant Orchid is a surprisingly versatile, modern hue that evokes a sense of creativity and movement that will elevate any room to a new dimension,” said Eiseman.

Ingrown hairs? I have the solution!!

I have been battling with ingrown hairs from waxing for ages now, I was so surprised when my new waxing lady at Sorbet in Melrose Arch casually piped up, "why don't you buy a product for that?"

"Whaaaaat?? You can buy something to help with that?" I queried in a shocked tone. Fancy that, you can. She recommended I try Environ Derma-Lac, which was like fate since I recently started using Environ moisturizer on my face.

VERDICT: Works like a charm!

Use a body scrub to exfoliate all affected areas – be thorough but not rough, as ingrown hairs can easily become infected resulting in red, raised bumps.  This will help to lift the excess skin that covers the hair trapped in the follicle.
Follow the exfoliated skin with a spot treatment (for small areas) or lotion (for large areas) that contains Alpha Hydroxy Acids. This will reduce inflammation and further get rid of excess skin that is trapping the hairs.

Try Environ Derma-Lac lotion (R220 for 200ml, selected skincare clinics).

I've been using Derma-Lac for about 3 months and I've noticed a significant change in the number and appearance of my ingrown hairs. Well done, Environ

RE: shorts from Woolworths featuring Candice Swanepoel

I'm sure lots of people saw that Candice Swanepoel was in South Africa a short while ago, then there was a rumbling that she was working with Woolworths whilst she was here, now we see the result! RE: have just bought out these super cute summer shorts in Woolies and Candice is the face of the campaign.

I read online that "RE: elected her to represent the brand, as they believe that she fits its mood and general message perfectly. In the TV ad Candice channels her inner rock ‘n roll chic as she shows off the RE: Festival Collection". This range is limited edition so make sure to visit a Woolies today to get your hands on a pair, or two ;) They are available in six colours and different finishes, colour, print, pleather and with embellishment. I've seen different reports but it's save to say that a pair costs around R200.

The purple pair is my personal fave, how about you?
