Beauty Buys: The Body Shop ♥

Camilla Jane || Beauty Buys - The Body Shop

Hiya everyone. I hope that you're having a wonderful week so far

I have mostly been blogging about fashion over the years. It's something that comes second nature to me and doesn't intimidate me at all. On the other hand, I am a beauty hoarder and can't get enough of reading beauty blogs and watching beauty YouTube videos. Despite this, the whole beauty blogging idea has intimidated me as far as applying theory to my experience and views.

I have picked up a few things along the way, be it tips from others or a discovery through trial and error. I am excited to now start focusing on more beauty-related things on the blog, here goes...

I popped into The Body Shop at Gateway the other day to grab a new cleanser. After a bit of browsing, the very helpful shop assistant informed me that if I have a The Body Shop card that I qualify for the 3-for-2 special. She got me guys - I grabbed a few other items on my way to the counter.

I am a big fan of buying natural products and The Body Shop ticks those boxes for me. Here are their values below:

I have been using oil cleansers for about 3 months now and I am obsessed! I had previously used the Dermalogica Precleanse and loved how it really removed the 'grime' off of my face and made my skin feel smooth and moisturised (which often does not happen with soap-based cleansers). I read on the All Dolled Up blog how Camilla (name twin) loved this cleanser and decided to try it for myself. I. LOVE. IT.

The pump ensures that I don't overdo it when I pour the product into my hand. I am a serial offender when it comes to using way too much product, and wasting really makes me sad. Apply one pump of this beautifully scented (and calming-effect) oil into your hands, rub over a dry face until it feels like you have dislodged your makeup off your eyelashes/skin/lips, then add a drop or two of water to emulsify it and wash off. One application is just enough. As I've said, it really makes my skin feeling clean and silky, but hasn't stripped off the layer of natural oil off my face. Oil removes oil, so it's absolutely perfect to wash off day-old makeup. The Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil retails for R150.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil (retails for R75) is a holy grail, everyday-use kind of product for me. Tea tree oil has anti-bacterial properties and acts as an immuno-stimulant to increase the body's ability to fight off any infections. I have been battling with acne-prone skin for about a year now and whenever I have a blemish I reach for the tea tree oil right away. I either dab it directly onto the blemish, or I add a few drops to my face wash and my moisturiser. I even add a few drops to my toothpaste as it fights off/treats gum infections, mouth ulcers, throat infections and tonsillitis. VERY IMPORTANT: Be very careful if you add it to your toothpaste. Unfortunately, sometimes “natural” is confused with “non-toxic” or “non-poisonous”. Tea tree oil, like many other “natural” substances, can indeed be poisonous if used in the wrong way, especially if swallowed.

These are the two products that I grabbed because of the 3-for-2 deal. Not only do I love using oil for cleansing my face, it's also incredibly important for ensuring my face doesn't dry out. I am a huge fan of serums so this little Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil (28ml, retails for R155) really caught my eye. Remember; dehydrated skin 'cracks' and causes wrinkles! Always rather have oily skin than dry skin!

This Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream has rich wheat germ oil to replenish and revitalise skin while you sleep. It helps replenish antioxidant and moisture levels overnight, when the skin is at its most receptive. My skin feels incredibly smooth when I wake up in the morning. The oil seeps into my skin beautifully and doesn't make my face feel like an oil slick. I can't give much input about the long-term effects, only using it for about a week, but so far so good. It retails for R155.

Please pop me a comment below if you liked this post or found it useful? I hope to do more of these soon.
