Beauty Buys: Drugstore Haul ♥

Jane Wonder | Drugstore Haul

Hiya everyone. I hope that you're having a wonderful week so far

I popped into Dischem and Clicks this weekend to grab two things I saw on local blogs this week and came home with 8... It's the shopaholic in me, what can I say?

I've seen this Catrice Absolute Rose palette on a few Instagram posts and blogs and I knew I had to have it. These rosy shades really appeal to me (I am obsessed with rose gold) and is a welcomed change from the natural colours I usually use. Four out of the 6 are glittery shades and 2 of them are quite matte. I swatched only 4 of them as I found them unique, the first two colours can be found in most palettes.

I need to play with a rosy makeup look this week, but so far I can say that the colour payoff is good and that the shades are averagely pigmented. I am keen to see how the eyeshadow looks on my actual lids and if they have any staying power.

I saw the Barbara Hoffman spoolie (R74.95) on Jules and Camilla's blog, All Dolled Up. I have a spoolie at the moment, but it broke off the end of Brow Lash Brush by Beautique (R29.95) and was annoying me. So far I can say that I am not actually chuffed with the Barbara Hoffman one :( I way prefer the Beautique one as the spoolie is angled and way easier to use to manicure my brows before applying any product. I am going back to Red Square to buy another one.

Cala is one of my favourite, affordable makeup brush brands - thanks to Luzanne from Pink Peonies! I picked up these two brushes to help me with more precision for my eyeshadow application. I haven't used them yet, but I have no doubt that these will be as great as my other brushes.

My new obsession... Morgan Taylor has blown all other nail polish brands out of the water for me. I am not a fan of Essie as, while they have awesome colours, the polish chips really quickly. OPI has the staying power, but not really the colours I like. Morgan Taylor ticks all of those boxes! I got "Where's my Crown" (fab name) in this haul and I am loving it!

Have I found my new favourite eyeshadow? I think I may have! I have been looking for a bronze/taupe or a gold eyeshadow cream since being obsessed with this Zoella look. The products she mentioned are, sadly, not available here. Neither are Maybelline's Colour Tattoo range (I am dying for Bad to the Bronze and Bold Gold).

I swatched about 20 shadows (cream and powder) on Saturday and decided this option was the closest to what I am looking for. Looking back, I am so glad that I chose this one!

I also saw this Maybelline Volume Express Big Eyes Mascara on All Dolled Up and, whilst I need not one more mascara, decided I needed to try it out. I LOVE that it has the Push-Up Brush for top lashes and the mini brush for the lower ones. I usually use two different mascaras to get the job done. This will be especially handy when I travel. I am a fan of natural bristles, so I think it will do the perfect job if the formulation is good.

Have you noticed my love of cream formulations these days? Cream blush is my new favourite thing; I use my finger to apply, add more as I need, and it leaves me with dewy, glowing cheeks all day. These ones from Essence are so affordable, I have the Sweet as Peach one too, and I can't wait for them to bring out more colours on a permanent basis!

That's it from me today! Let me know if any of these products tickle your fancy. I think I need to do a giveaway soon ;)
